Sandwich panel exhibits various kinds of failure modes depending upon different panel configurations (e.g., core material and profile of facings). The research data on failure mode caused by the core material and shear strength of sandwich panels can hardly be found in the literature.
This research intends to thoroughly investigate the shear strength of sandwich panels by implementing both experimental and finite element analysis (FEA) methods. Based on the results obtained, a formulation to evaluate the core shear strength of the sandwich panel will be executed that will meet the European design standard.
